Journey 6

MedGo: A Walk In The Patient's Shoes

Course Progress

Summary

As health care providers, we spend a lot of time in the hospital. But patients and their families, who may be waiting for us just feet away, are experiencing this place that is so familiar to us in a completely different way.  What is it like for expecting mothers and fathers on their health care journeys? For example, what happens when they arrive, go to their appointment, find something to eat, or schedule their next appointment?  This journey allows you to take a look into the patient’s experiences and how they might be affecting patient-provider interactions and even patient outcomes.

MedGo is a mixed reality learning experience similar to the popular game Pokemon Go. It is designed to help you visit familiar workplaces and take a break from your normal routine to reflect on your patients’ experiences from different perspectives.

For about 20 minutes, you will locate several objects or execute a few assigned tasks that help to convey key aspects of the patient’s pregnancy journeys and the associated pain points that we uncovered in our research. After you find the object or complete the task, a prompt will appear asking you to take a photo of the location or answer a question. Good Luck!
