HOW LONG IS 400 YEARS? HOW FAR HAVE WE COME?

As an added activity here, please take a moment and cruise through this interactive timeline below, by putting your mouse on the grey marker on the left side of the timeline and start pulling it right.

You should notice that nearly 250 years went by, between 1619 – 1863, where African Americans were held as slaves and property, without rights, and therefore rather void on of major milestones.   Scroll further through the timeline, making quick pitstops along the way at each of the major milestones that occurred for another 100 years.  It wasn’t until the 1950’s, when the Civil Rights movement started taking form marking the beginning of the demand for equality for all.

Keep moving your curser further right through the 70’s and through to today, to start to better understand why are are still very much at the beginning 50 years of equity rebalancing effort here and why disparities exist today.
